Endowments established to support the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences programs, students, and faculty.
Donors who choose to establish endowments are committed to supporting activities not just for one year, or even one generation, but for perpetuity. By their very nature, endowments require the consideration of current and future needs. Endowments provide the stability necessary for UND to remain the premier liberal arts university on the Northern Plains.
An endowment can be established through the UND Foundation and named with a minimum gift of $25,000 and funded over time or with a deferred gift arrangement. Donors may also choose to designate gifts to existing endowments held within the UND Foundation to grow their base of support.
In the 2009 fiscal year, the following eight new endowments were established with the UND Foundation to benefit students, faculty, and programs within the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Craig and Jewel Lambrecht Endowment

To support the Simulation Lab at the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Dr. Cecil and Penny Chally Medical Scholarship Endowment
Donor: Cecil H. Chally, M.D.
To provide scholarship assistance to qualified students within the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences who are earning a medical doctor degree.
Dr. Steve and Sue Laxdal Scholarship Endowment
Donors: Stefan and Sue Laxdal
To provide one or more academic scholarships to qualified students within the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Dr. Walter Wasdahl and Dr. Robert and Kay Hedger Endowment

To provide one or more scholarships to qualified medical students within the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences who have a demonstrated financial need.
George B. Talbert Family Medical School Endowment

To support the varying educational opportunities and scholarship needs of a student at the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Henry C. "Bud" Wessman Physical Therapy Quasi-Endowment

Mack and Rita Traynor Medical Scholarship Endowment

To fund one or more medical student scholarships for students who graduated from a North Dakota high school and who are enrolled in the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Phyllis Schaefer Memorial Endowment

To be used for cancer research, with preference being given to research currently being conducted by Dr. Robert Sticca, chair of the Surgery Department.
